Weekend in La Jolla!

My weekend started on Friday.  Picked up Sarah from the hotel and we went for a "foot massage".  I've mentioned this place before on a previous posting.  It's a really cool place, dark room, comfy chair, nice relaxing music, water fountains . . . just one quirky thing I had to tell Sarah before we walked in . . .  they play war movies during your relaxing massage.  No audio, thank goodness but the image is shocking.  I told her to just shut her eyes.  We couldn't help but giggle b/c really, it's ridiculous to play a shoot'm up movie like "Private Ryan" during a peaceful "foot massage".  Funny.  They turned it off, not b/c we asked them to.  Maybe b/c they realized how ridiculous it was.  LOL!  I can't wait to go back.  The "foot massage" is truly is a treat.

After that, I got my flu shot.  fun times.  After a quick early dinner at Pick Up Stix, we headed back to the hotel and enjoyed our time together.

Saturday, Sarah and I went to Nolan's soccer game.  Aunt Sarah got to watch Nolan do a Hat Trick!  Yep, 3 goals.  Pretty cool.  Sarah was yelling "Super-Star" from the sideline.  Loved it!  Then we met up w/ Jeff and Tate at the hotel.  Mom and Dad, Mary and her family arrived and we had a great time catching up.  We laughed so much.  Felt really good to laugh.  Sarah and Mary shaved my head.  I'm now officially, Mrs. Clean.  Ha!  We walked across the golf course, to check out the beautiful sunset and then we had a nice dinner at the hotel.  Perfect.  I can't believe I didn't get any pictures of Jessie, Philip and Craig!  What the heck!  Just wait until Thanksgiving, I'll make up for it!  Smile.

Sunday, Nolan and I went to his baseball game.  Jeff and I both thought Nolan pitched really well and had a great inning as catcher.  After the game me and Nolan headed back to the hotel.  Got to see another amazing sunset with Mary, Erik, mom, dad, Sarah and my boys.  The room Sarah got us was SWEET!  Thank you Sarah!  We had a perfect dinner at the hotel, Thank you mom and dad!

Monday morning. . .  said our good byes. . . took the boys to school and returned to work.  I miss my family.  I look forward to Thanksgiving.  Seeing everyone.  I'll have my camera, get ready to SMILE!  Missed you Owen, Jeanette, Sarah and Owie!

Check out this REALLY cool quote that was forwarded to me from Wendy.  She received it from her dear friend who started her chemo journey today.  "We must embrace our pain and burn it as fuel for our journey...the fight starts today!!"

Thursday is coming up fast.  Can't wait to get to the top of Chemo Mountain!  The visual is amazing.  Knowing I'll be 1/2 way done with this Chemo Trip.

Please say an extra prayer, send super-sized energy my way on Thursday, 10:15am.

I'll post a few more pictures later tonight, I hope.

Love you!

Three Affirmations for today . . .

I know that every day is only a stepping stone on my pathway. - Louise Hay

Seeing a mental movie that provides you with true information about a person or situation, or that gives you guidance about your life purpose or making changes, is a sign of being in the presence of angels.  - Doreen Virtue

Our bodies are symbols of our whole lives, and of who we are and what our souls are like. We co-create our bodies through the laws of science, but also, simultaneously, through the laws of spirit. - Christiane Northrup

So, I'm a little nervous about this Thursday but at the same time, I'm super excited about getting to the top of the chemo mountain!!!  After Thursday - it will be all down hill!  I saw my oncologist this morning.  He says it's best I don't distrupt my chemo dates but he also said, he feels in my case "I will probably be OK w/ rescheduling".  I'm not going to reschedule.  I'm sad about missing the U2 concert.  Dad, I'll be in touch regarding Plan B.

I will write more later tonight; I want to fill you all in on my amazing weekend with my family in La Jolla.  Good times.

Interesting Johns Hopkins Article about Cancer

I had read on the internet that "everyone has cancer cells in their body" according to a "John Hopkins article".  I looked this up on and was happy to see that this was a hoax.  Please click on the title to read Johns Hopkins rebuttal article.  Really good information!

Do not go where the path may lead~ Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. ~ Emerson

Hello . . . It's Wednesday and have to tell you, I feel terrific.  Some amazing ladies dropped off some ingredients and recipe to make Yogi tea.  This tea is a blood purifier.  It tastes so good!  I made a huge batch last night.  Thank you Saige and Carol B!!!  Thanks for everything!

I'm sporting a nice scarf on my head today, which I'm use to seeing myself in now.  Ghetto Graham, right Tony F.?  LOL!

This weekend, Sarah's coming to town.  We're staying in La Jolla.  Mom and Dad are coming down too.  It will be a good time to watch some soccer and a little baseball, relax by the pool, maybe have a "foot massage" at ZenSpa, enjoy every moment.

U2 is coming up.  Oct 25.  I'm going to ask my Oncologist to see if there would be any risk to my wellness path if I put off my chemo session until Monday, Oct. 26.  (I'm currently scheduled for 10/22). That way I could go to the concert with my dad and boys.  The most important thing is my chemo treatments and if he gives any indication that this would be not advised, believe me, I won't do it.  Fingers and toes are crossed.  :-)

I'm looking forward to my next chemo cocktail.  Seriously.  I want to check off 3rd round so bad!  A week from tomorrow, I'll be 1/2 way DONE!

Carol Y, Audrey, Christine H, Fran, and Laura G. - we had the herb crusted chicken last night - another HUGE hit!  MMMMM!!!!

Gotta run.

10 year old with breast cancer

I'm reading this blog with my jaw on the floor.  This girl is a trooper.  I'm so inspired by her courage.  I'm speechless. . . Click on the title.

Hello!  It's Saturday afternoon and all is well.  I'm continuing to feel better and better each day.  I've been having chills and heat flashes this entire week but today, not so much.  It's HOT in San Diego.  I hear the temp could climb up to 105 degrees in the next few days.  That's crazy!  I'm keeping cool with the kids.

Check out this amazing fruit arrangement my friend Judi and her kids Kody and Kayla sent over today.  I don't think I've had fruit taste so good before!  The timing of the delivery was perfect.  We just got home from soccer games.  This mega fruit bowl is so refreshing!  Thank you so much!

I'm excited about a Chinese Herb called Astragalus.  Click on the title to learn more about it.  I'll talk to my doctor about it but I plan to pick some up.  From what I've read, it may help decrease some side effects of chemotherapy.  Huh?  sign me UP!

Everyday is such a blessing.  I wake up, feeling so lucky for ALL the support and love all around me.  My family, co-workers, and friends continue to lift me up and take such great care of me.  I'll never forget the extraordinary kindness and support I receive everyday.

HUGS all around!

Tuesday . . .5th day after chemo

I have to write this stuff down b/c I'll forget.  Woke up this morning feeling way better than Sunday and Monday.  But I still felt tired, slightly dizzy and my throat was really sore.

So, I stay home.  Glad I did b/c I was able to get some more much needed rest.  The kids got home around 2:30pm and by 3:30pm, I was feeling GREAT.  Really.  It was like someone flipped the "feel well light switch".   Like Aunt Wendy says "who put a nickel in you?"  That's how I feel.  Wound up and ready to go!

Did you watch Oprah yesterday?  I was going to put a video link on my blog but it has been pulled.  It was a flash mob dance with 100's of people and the Black Eyed Peas.  Sure was cool.  Of course, I was having a nap during this episode and I forgot to set my dvr.

So instead of that video, I'm going to post Nolan's current favorite song (which he's learning on the guitar). You know this one. . .  BEAT IT!  Click on the above title.  :-)

Good night!

Monday check in. . .

"Life is made of peaks and valleys, and being in a valley doesn't mean there isn't a peak on the horizon. In fact, it's usually a good indication that something great is going to come your way.  When you're at a low point in your life, keep moving. The only direction you can go is up."  Wayne Dyer.

Yesterday was rough for me.  Feeling emotional and tired.  Saw CSC win another game - that was cool.  Then tried to watch Nolan's baseball game.  Decided to call it a day and go home instead.  That's when I finally had a nice long nap.  I was so due.  For some reason, I have not been able to fall into a deep sleep, until yesterday.  Mom and Dad came by around 2pm which was perfect.  Got to cuddle with mom on the couch.  Loved that very much.  Can't wait to see them again, in a couple weeks!

I stayed home today and managed to get a couple naps in.  Plus listened to Journey Through The Chakras.  That really relaxes me.  Wayne Dyer was on Hay House Radio at 1pm, perfect timing.  My plan is to return to work tomorrow.  You see, the Tuesday after my 1st session, I felt pretty darn good.  I can't wait to feel that way again.  Keep your well wishes coming!

Chargers play tonight.  Go SD!

Sunday Morning

Good morning.  The weather seems to be cooling down a bit, so happy about that.  Feels good.

Friday, I felt pretty tired and wired - just like round 1.
Saturday, I managed to get out to watch my boys play soccer.  Fun games.  I kept pretty mellow on the sidelines.  I think I said "turn and burn" only twice.  That's so unlike me.  Smile.
I missed my 1 year old nieces bday party though.  That broke my heart.  I stayed home and relaxed.  Sorry Melanie!  Love you.  Happy Birthday Baby.

Today, Tate has a soccer game at 9:45 and Nolan has baseball at 12n.  My goal is to see both.  Then mom and dad will visit.  I can't wait to see them.

New symptoms this 2nd round:  My left arm at the injection site aches a little.  It's difficult to sleep.  Seems like I'm just 1/2 a sleep.  Also, I'm having really strange dreams.  Last night I dreamt that I was flying in a car that was being pulled by an airplane.  Wild dream.  The plane dipped and splashed the ocean and I didn't get wet.  I wasn't scared at all.

I'm so touched by all your comments.  They really lift me up, just when I need it.  Faye put it in a nut shell in a recent letter, "You will know deeper love than you ever knew before.  Your family and friends are filling you with love and a grace not know by everyone."  So true.  I'm grateful.

Love you all!

Wig and No Wig

Decided to add my bad ass look!  LOL!

I'm feeling really tired today.  I've had one really long nap.  Mary came by for an hour, perfect visit.  We watched GLEE.  Now, I'm off to bed, again.

Round Two, check!

My day started off so well.  Had a nice time with Mary at Starbucks.  Thanks Marz for making the trip down.  Sure meant a lot!

Then off to KP.  Got there at 10am and finished around 4pm.  So much for an easy go today.  Around 11:30am I started to have a very serious allergic reaction to the Taxotere which involved me all of a sudden not being able to breathe and started getting hives on my left arm (where the IV was) and my face was redder then a fire truck. Very scary.  I was right by the nurses station and got their attention fast.  In a matter of seconds, there were 6 people around me, including an Oncology dr., and the pharmasist, who mixed my chemo cocktail.  Wow, what service.  They hooked me up to oxygen, took my blood pressure, gave me 3 drugs thru the IV.  2 were antihistamines and the other was a different kind of steroid.  That did the trick.  My blood pressure improved.  Around a half hour later, they tried giving me Taxotere again.  They slowly but surely got it in.  No side affects.  I'm grateful.  I was worried that I would not be able to finish my session today, which would mean delay in getting this all over with.  So, my big question was "why am I having an allergic reaction now?, why didn't this happen the during the 1st round?".  They gave me a pretty easy explanation.  Sometimes people don't know they're allergic to a bee sting until they get stung the 2nd time.  Makes sense.  Round Three:  They'll start w/ a dose of Benedryl.  All should be good.

It was GREAT seeing mom and dad!  Look forward to seeing them again soon.  Thanks for the pesto, etc!  And Missy, if your reading, THANK YOU FOR The Blanket.  It's so soft and beautiful.  I'll treasure for ever.  And your note was so sweet.

Thanks Gloria for the YUMMY cookies!  I ate so many today!  MMMMM!

I forgot to wear makeup today.  Yikes!  O'well.  Thank goodness for lipstick!

On our way home, we stopped by to pickup my wig.  I'll take pictures tomorrow and post.  I like it a lot.  Jeff clipped my hair some more.  So glad.  I look bad-ass now.  :-)  SSMDW in the HOUSE!

Here are some pictures from today.  Glad it's done.  Time for some yummy lasauna that Deb made for us!  Thanks Deb!

Round Two

Hi!  Tomorrow is another big day.  Can't wait to line out Round Two!  I might be having breakfast with Mary, fingers crossed.  Then Jeff, my rock, will take me to the Chemo Cafe.  Mom and Dad will visit sometime around 10:30.  What a treat!  This round should only take 2 maybe 3 hours.

Check out this ridiculously cute hat that Maryann sent me today!  I LOVE IT!  Can't wait to wear it tomorrow.  It's super cool!  Thank you Maryann!  And I LOVE your cards you're making.  Thanks for your email the other day.  I'll respond soon.  I want to catch up girl!  And Dick, thanks for the wicked card for the boys.  Nice.  Smile.  Snap.  I just noticed my kitchen sink is dirty in the background of these pictures.  O'well. . .

Jolie and I picked out the perfect wig for me.  I should be able to pickup tomorrow, after my treatment.  I'll take pictures and post ASAP.

Well.  I'm going to watch GLEE because it's my favorite new show.  Have you seen it??  Amazing and funny.  GLEE means Happiness!  I'm all for that!

Good night friends and family!  Sweet dreams. . .

Stay-Cation in La Jolla!

What a weekend!  We had a blast is La Jolla enjoying the warm weather and water!  The boys, all three, were like fish - they were in the water most of the time.  I took a ton of pictures, that's just what I do. . . Loved it!

My hair thinned a lot while in La Jolla.  Today, I just couldn't take it anymore.  Just looking at my hair, it falls out.  It was in the throws of death but now, it's dead-dead.  After we did some back to school supply shopping, Jeff got the clippers out.  #8.  I'm not completely bald but I think by tomorrow, my hair will be gone-gone, or close to it.

The boys helped me pick out some new hats today.  They're cute.

here are some pictures from our amazing weekend away. . .

Affirmations by Dr. Christiane Northrup - LOVE HER!!!!!

My body and its condition are a barometer that is always trying to tell me which direction to go for my maximum creativity, health, and fulfillment. And, because I'm human, I get off track now and again but I can always get back on.

Our immune systems are strengthened by the number of supportive relationships we have in our lives. Studies have shown that those with the most varied social support are the least likely to get colds!

Here's a picture of me and Linnea!  Thank you girl for all the head wraps!  It was great to finally meet you!  Hair is still dropping. . .  s/b having the Mr. Clean look DOWN this weekend.  Smile.

It's Raining Hair . . .

It's a gorgous day in Sunny San Diego.  Summer vacation is almost over. . . and what a summer it has been.  My boys did so many cool things with their gaga and granny, aunt wendy, sarah, mary, erin, jeanette, uncle owen, cesar, nana and poppy, cool cousins and many friends.  I'm grateful for that.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  Having my boys taken care of, and having fun w/ family and friends truly was comforting and reassuring. I'll never forget everyones kindness!

My hair is falling out.  Kind of like how Izzie's from Greys Anatomy fell out.  But I was at work, sitting at my desk.  I just watched this video and this was pretty much my reaction.  But seriously, I'm over it.  Startled me for a minute but that's it.  Yesterday, there were jut a few handfuls.  now it's just dropping like rain.  So glad my hair is short.

The weekend is almost here!  Yes.  The ocean temp is in the mid 70's.  The weekend forcast looks nice, upper 80's.  Better than the 95 temps we've had!  Love'n life in San Diego.

Enjoy your 3-day weekend friends and family!  I love you!

Hair . . .

This morning, I woke up with my head hurting, feels like I have a hair bruise, but all over my scalp.  Then a few hours later, my head started to tingle a little bit.  2:00pm I pulled out a hand full of hair from the left side of my head.  Looks like the toxic breast cancer drugs (aka:  T/C) is doing it's job.  Right on schedule. . .

I have a lot of (short) hair, so I think this process may take a couple days.

When I reached up and finger combed my hair and had a hand full of it come out, I cried.  But only for a minute.  Tears are gone now.  Don't forget, I am a Scar Sister, Milk Dud Warrior! Bring it ON already so I can start wearing really cute scarves and hats!  Smile.

Thanks for your love and support!

Get OUT! Check this OUT!

I just learned about this website,!  They give away head wraps to people who are going through Chemotherapy!  There were so many to choose from.  I went for this one.  So CUTE!  Can't wait to see it!  I love FREE STUFF!!!
